Arrival and departure
The starting point and final destination of Osterode and Thale are easy to reach by train. The starting points of the Harz Mountainser-Hexen-Stieg are well signposted. Many accommodation providers along the way also offer a transport service for your luggage.
The specifics of the tour
The main route of the Harz Mountainser-Hexen-Stieg runs from Osterode and across the Brocken mountain to Thale.
Between Königshütte and Altenbrak, you have the choice of two routes:
- Hasselfelde - Köhlerhütten - Altenbrak
- Rübeland - Wendefurth - Altenbrak
If you would prefer not to hike across the Brocken mountain, once you reach the village of Torfhaus, you can go around the Brocken mountain via St. Andreasberg and Braunlage to Königshütte.
The route can also be taken in the opposite direction.
