Weser Uplands

Tourists visiting the romantic Weserbergland mountain range, which is known for its undulating hills and the river that gives it its name, are sure to have an exciting and varied trip. From the confluence of the Weser river to Bad Oeynhausen, magnificent old towns and cities with picturesque half-timbered houses line up like pearls on a chain in an idyllic river landscape.

This place is home to world-famous fairy tales and legends, which are brought to life against this backdrop straight out of the storybooks. Visitors can see where the Pied Piper of Hameln (Hamelin), Cinderella or Baron Münchhausen (also known as the Baron of Lies) left their mark throughout the region. To this day, tourists can still wander into some of these dominions on a trip through the Weserbergland.

Did you know that you can find the largest group of Renaissance buildings to the north of the Alps in the Weser Uplands? Glorious Weser Renaissance castles and palaces line the way, giving the region its own unique charm.

The perfect way to explore the Weserbergland is by bike. The Weser-Radweg, one of Germany’s most popular bike trails, starts in the Weser Uplands and ends by the North Sea. If you prefer hiking, then why not explore the region in all its glory on the Weserberglandweg?

If you want to escape the daily grind for some R&R, you will find a wide array of wellness options in one of the many health spas and spa towns, where you can be pampered from head to toe.
