The Hanover holiday region incorporates the area between Steinhuder Meer lake, the Aller-Leine Valley, Burgdorfer Land, Leinebergland (Leine Uplands), the Deister hills and, of course, the capital of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony): Hanover.
A holiday region with endless variety
The region is full of contrasts and combines a quiet, rural feel with modern architecture and metropolitan flair. Nestled between the low mountain ranges and the North German Plain, visitors have plenty of choice between stretches of water, forests and mountains. The northern part of the region, Burgdorfer Land, is known for its heaths, farmland and forests. Lake Steinhude Nature Park and the Aller-Leine Valley in the north and north-west of the region boast multiple stretches of water and are perfect for active tourists. In the south, the Deister hills attract hikers and nature lovers. The spa towns of Bad Nenndorf and Bad Münder are also located in this area. Historic cities, known for their half-timbered houses, such as Stadthagen and Hildesheim , are the perfect places for a stroll and are home to a wide array of art and culture.
