Nature Park Moor-Veen­land


The Natur Park Moor - Veenland offers an absolutely unique ecosystem - the moor. Once, the largest contiguous moorland area of Central Europe was located in the German-Dutch border region. The present area of this unique landscape are protected within the cross-border international nature park.

Various viewing platforms offer unique views of the moor landscape. Of interest for tourists are numerous museums as well as teaching and adventure trails devoted to the subjects of moorland, peat extraction, restoration and renewable energy. Exploration of the moor via the moot train is also recommended.

Whether by car, bicycle or on foot – the nature park can be explored on designated routes in a variety of ways, either individually or with nature and landscape guides. The wide, flat routes are also suitable for inexperienced hikers and cyclists. Also recommended is the cross-border route, which provides access to the nature park’s highlights and offers a total of 74 kilometres with 15 cairns.
