The region Weser Uplands is located in the South of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony).
The river Weser meanders through the landscape, forming it as it does so, and creates exceptional views of diverse environments. Rare lichens, mosses and flowering plants are found up to the towering heights of 440 m in Süntel and falling steeply down rugged cliffs of Hohenstein and of the Ith. The frequently changing narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep valleys gives a wild and original character to these mountains.
The Weser Uplands and Solling-Vogler nature parks offer numerous
possibilities for active tourists. With the river always in sight, Weser Uplandsweg
is recommended as a single or multi-day hike and the Weser cycle route
for biking. Ambitious climbers also get their money’s worth and can climb to dizzying heights in both nature parks. Mountain bikers will find challenging terrain in the Hochsolling; it has a total of 760 kilometres of routes over 15 individual routes with different difficulty levels to be cycled.
The river Weser is also perfect for single or multi-day canoe trips.
Also numerous architectural and cultural monuments are well worth a visit. Buildings from the Weser Renaissance can be found in the historic town centres of Rinteln and Hamelin
. Other tourist attractions include the castles in Bevern, Bückeburg, Hämelschenburg and Schwöbber as well as the monasteries Amelungsborn and Corvey.
