The 40 participating farmhouse cheesemakers, village dairies and milk manufacturers in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) offer visitors the opportunity to sample and purchase the exquisite dairy produce from the region between the North Sea and Harz mountains along a network of different routes. What is impressive is the diversity of different cheese and milk products from the Niedersachsen region.
All the products are made exclusively from untreated milk from the farms’ own cows, buffalo, sheep and goats, and are produced using traditional artisan methods. Visitors can sample local specialities, like ice cream made from goat’s milk or tangy East Frisia Pecorino cheese as well as untreated dairy produce along the “gourmet route”.
